What is Eid?

This article will give you answer of the question “What is Eid Mubarak ” or “Meaning of Eid Mubarak”, but firstly we will explore the meaning of Eid. Eid is a occasion globally celebrated by Muslim all over the world.For Muslims it is the day of happiness and joy which is blessed them by Allah.

Eid is an Arabic word which means the ‘’Happiness which returns again and again’’.

In Islam, There are two types of Eid,

•  Eid ul Fitr
•  Eid ul Adha

Eid ul Fitr:

“Ramdan” or “Ramzan” is the 10^th Islamic month,In this holy month Muslims fasts the whole month, On the end of the holy month of Ramdan Muslims celebrate Eid ul fitr which is a prize day given by Allah to them for fasting the whole month.

In Pakistan and India Eid ul Fitr is also called “Choti Eid ” or “Meethi Eid” as Sweat eid.

Eid ul Adha:

After two months of Eid ul Fitr,On 10^th of “Dhull Hijjah” Eid ul Adha is celebrated globally. On this holy occasion Hilal animals are slaughtered in the name of Allah.On this occasion “Hajj the Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca” Is also performed.

Meaning of Eid Mubarak:

In English Mubrark means ‘May your day be blessed with happiness”, it is actually a traditional way of giving congratulations on occasion of Eid.

In various part of world there are different ways to say eid Mubarak to others as,

In Arabic it is  عيد مبارك

In Bengali it is ঈদ মোবারক

In Persian/Urdu it is عید مُبارک

In Malayalam it is ഈദ്‌ മുബാറക്‌

In Somali it is Ciid wanaagsan

In Tamil it is ஈத் முபாரக்

After offering their Eid Nimaz muslims hug each other and says congratulations to each others, these are moments of happiness.A lot of beggars are find outside the mosques to get their share in the celebration of Eid.

Word eid has spiritual meanings as to help needy ones with fitrana i.e. a special ibbadat on day of eid in which muslims assists the poor with food, cloth and even with money so they may also celebrate these moments of happiness. Eid also means to thank Allah for his unlimited blessings.

On eid day, sweet food items like “swaian”,”feerni”,”meethy chawal” etc are made in homes and they are also sent to neighborhood to make these moments of happiness pure.

Moral:

Eid is the name of happiness and eid Mubarak means to say congratulations to each other on the day of happiness and to help each other for the sake of Allah. Eid teaches us how to celebrate moments of happiness in great way with helping others.Eid is also name of slef control for the sake of Allah and to celebrate the moments of joy with in limits.
